Smarter Running
The key to efficient running is in the hips and core. If we optimize all three stages of our run we can minimize the strain on our body and maximize our stride.
How Personal
Training Can Help
01
Identifying Imbalances in Running Phases
By evaluating each phase of your stride—from initial contact to push-off and recovery—we can identify areas that require improvement. This analysis helps tailor corrective exercises to address asymmetries, ensuring a more balanced and efficient running form.
03
Enhancing Flexibility and Mobility
Flexible and mobile joints contribute to a more fluid and efficient running stride. I incorporate dynamic stretching routines and mobility exercises that increase the range of motion in the hips, hamstrings, and calves in all three planes of motion.
05
Strengthening the Upper Back for Proper Arm Swing
A strong upper back supports proper arm swing, which is essential for balance and propulsion in running. I include exercises which target specific areas in the upper back which play key roles in keeping our bodies upright. Proper arm swing helps in maintaining rhythm and momentum, reducing rotational forces and enhancing forward propulsion.
02
Strengthening the Core and Hips
Core and hip strength are critical for maintaining proper running form and preventing injuries. Strengthening these muscles enhances stability and power, reducing excessive motion and strain on the lower back and knees, thereby improving overall running efficiency.
04
Isometric Exercises to Strengthen Fast-Twitch Muscle Fibers
Isometric exercises (where the muscle is held at a specific length without moving) can aid in developing fast-twitch muscle fibers, essential for explosive speed and power in running. This targeted approach boosts your sprinting ability and overall running performance.
06
Utilizing Recovery and Regeneration Techniques
Recovery is an essential component of any training regimen. I incorporate strategies like active recovery, proper nutrition, and rest to facilitate muscle repair and adaptation. Ice bath / cold plunge therapy is also available for some in-person personal training sessions. Contact me for more information.
