My experience in the health & fitness industry began at the age of 17 after pitching the idea of a fitness program designed specifically for people with developmental disabilities to a local YMCA. After receiving my (first) personal training certification, I continued to personal train throughout college, setting up similar modified fitness programs in Arizona. After college, I moved to Los Angeles where I managed and expanded a bootcamp-style fitness studio. Several years later I opened Poise Fitness: a fitness studio offering small group classes that mixed physical therapy movements with high intensity exercises. Wanting to be closer to family, and after starting a family of our own, I am proud to be living in and serving the greater Chapel Hill, NC community!

My coaching philosophy is rooted in passion, dedication, and kindness, fostering a warm and honest environment where collaboration turns the impossible into reality.
By strategically combining corrective exercise with strength training, I design personalized programs that deliver comprehensive results.

Justin has quite literally changed my life. I hate working out; always have. It wasn't until I met Justin that I actually started to enjoy it, and for the first time, I maintained some level of consistency in my workouts! My teenage daughter and I have even worked out together with him, and it has helped our bond so much! I'm grateful for his gentle yet motivating style, as I don't do well with "boot camp" style trainers. It's awesome to watch my body composition change, and I'm excited to see what it will look like a year from now! And the bonus is that it has done wonders for my mental health. As a 50 year old professor and an old school Chicano who grew up on the east side but who developed sports hobbies I have very high standards when it comes to my fitness regiment. My trainer has to be knowledgeable like a physical therapist in order to accommodate me when I am unable to do an exercise. I also value human connection, so my trainer has to be full of vitality yet chill, they have to have the charisma to connect with people across race, gender, ethnicity, and age. Finally, my trainer must have level of professionalism to keep me on track and accomplish my goals, on top of being a good friend. Justin Roth checks all of these boxes.
